Portrait mode

large aperture helps to keep your background out of focus. portrait mode works best when your taking a picture of just one thing.

Macro Mode

kets you move closer to your subject to take a close up.its great for taking a picture of flowers and small things.

Landscape mode

is way different then portrait mode. point of interest at a different distances.

sports mode

is for taking picture of moving things. helps with sport events.

night mode

its good for low light. it is better if your background is blurred.

movie mode

is good for capturing moving object. they are mostly on new digital camera

aperture priority mode

is when your camera choosing your settings for you. good for less light

program mode

this is full auto mode. it gives you more control of other features

manual mode

is when you have full control over the camera.most of digital camera owners that I have some idea with the trends.
